On Sunday night, after more than two decades, the music will stop at Rimini's iconic Velvet Club & Factory. Since the club opened in 1989 they have played host to over 1,000 events, including some of the biggest names in rock: Nirvana, Blur, Ramones, Black Sabbath, Violent Femmes, Editors, Motörhead, Primal Scream, and more recently Italian rock band Marlene Kuntz.
Covering a major event isn't all fun and games, this is serious business. It requires precise planning; first item on the agenda, "Are you sure we have enough Gin & Tonic? Else, things could get ugly."
Early evening, the last rays of sun flood Velvet's event floor. The Velvet Team, musicians, technicians, journalists, and early drinkers go about their final preparations before the approaching storm.
Sound check with Manuel Agnelli, and Afterhours.
First, feed and water the troops...
"Cristiano, you'll be fine out there. I'll organize you a chair to sit on, hell I'll even come out there and take a picture of you if you like."
"Chico, stay the fuck off the stage!"
At 2am Team NOPANIC had begun to show signs of fatigue. Pinky and The Brain took a pause to consider our next move...
Meanwhile our fearless leader was hatching a plan...
"Quick woman, give me three more gin & tonics. And then find me a big square, black box."
"A black box? What do you plan do with that?"
"The same thing I do everyday, try to make people act crazy and have their pictures taken."
"Super merda! They've got me!"
And then things really got ugly...
Rimini has its own Flavor Flav!
"Listen, just trust me. Obviously I can close a bra strap ... hahaha"
Four in the morning, "What say we go home Brain?"
